A leading Egyptian Peanut Processor and Exporter

Fail

The Problem

This leading Egyptian peanut processing company and exporter was looking to design and implement incentive schemes and KPIs to monitor and improve the efficiency of employees within 8 different departments. As part of this company’s cooperation with an international development organization which aims to improve women’s employment in the private sector, there was a particular focus on attempting to design holistic incentive schemes for the women working on the peanut production line, as a means of improving female retention and empowerment within the company.

Approach

The Approach

The project consisted of two main phases. During the first phase, the consulting team took part in full day field visits to both the companies’ factories and headquarters. During these visits, the team was able to witness first-hand how the production line is managed, the way employees are currently monitored, and any inefficiencies or bottlenecks in the current system. Furthermore, the team also carried out extensive interviews with key members of each department at the company in order to learn more about their positions, how their performance is currently measured, and any concerns that they have about the current KPIs set in place.

During the second stage the consultants studied these findings and each employee’s job descriptions to design a set of technical and behavioral KPIs for each position in the company, assigning a set of points to each one, the purpose of the KPI, an “owner”, and the frequency of measurement.

The Results

The project culminated in a document outlining each position’s KPIs. The KPIs were also used to design different monitoring and evaluation templates that could be printed out and filled on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis by whoever is in charge of recording each KPI.
