Business Analysts

As a business analyst at Acumen you will be providing full support to the senior consulting team in troubleshooting obstacles for private, public and international organizations working in a variety of fields and sectors.  The business analyst position will require a candidate with a sound analytical mindset and a passion for problem solving.

On the management consulting side, the business analysts’ main tasks will include, supporting in tool development, client company diagnosis, sizing markets, competition analysis, strategy development, business planning, organization redesign and process optimization.

Meanwhile, Business Analysts working with policy clients will mainly focus on conducting primary and secondary research, benchmarking against global best practices, and formulating and testing various scenarios.

The business analyst will also get the opportunity to design content and training material from Acumen’s coaching and training arm on an extensive range of topics including basic business skills, the macroeconomy, project management, and policy making.

The ideal candidate for this role has a strong command of English and Arabic, excellent spoken and written communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. We are looking for ambitious self-starters with a strong willingness to learn. There is no typical academic background required to succeed in this role, with Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Business graduates all having excelled during their time as Business Analysts at Acumen.

Associate consultants

An associate consultant at Acumen is typically someone who has been working for a few years out of college. Associate Consultants will get the opportunity to work on a variety of policy advisory, enterprise development, and coaching and training engagements with clients in a diversity of sectors.

In this multifaceted role, associates will be   required to support senior team members during all stages of a consulting engagement. The Associate Consultant’s main responsibilities will include:  studying and analyzing problems, discovering insights, and proposing recommendations for the client amongst other things. Associate Consultants will occasionally be in charge of directing the junior team members and delegating tasks to them as per the required project scope.

This is a dynamic job role requiring a candidate with a combination of great interpersonal and communication skills, creative thinking skills, analytical thinking, and leadership skills.

Years of experience:  at least 3 years of experience.

Senior Consultant

This is a client facing position which requires specialized industry-specific knowledge and background.  Senior Consultants at Acumen take on managerial roles during project engagements, and will be the main individuals in charge of interacting with clients and communicating findings to them.

The senior consultants will be in charge of setting out each project approach, objective and method of implementation and directing the junior team in conducting the required tasks to achieve the project goals. Senior Consultants will also be in charge of managing day to day scheduling and communicating progress updates to clients   in order to build effective client engagement.

The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented problem solver with excellent communication, analysis, and management skills.

 Years of experience: The position requires 5-7 years of experience in other similar engagements.

Consultant

This is a middle management position and requires a dynamic candidate with either consulting experience or the relevant project management experience that enables him/her to manage work streams and projects independently.

The candidate will be responsible for working on projects across Acumen's 3 main work streams.

The first work stream pertains to policy advocacy, where our team works closely with development partners, government entities and NGOs on activities related to the economic environment in Egypt and addressing challenges at an institutional level. The candidate will be required to conduct desk research, facilitate workshops, hold stakeholder engagement interviews, benchmark against global best practices, model various scenarios and quantify the impact of these scenarios, as well as develop recommendation reports in both English and Arabic.

The second stream is management consulting services to small and medium enterprises. In this stream, the candidate will support in tool development, company diagnosis, sizing markets, competition analysis, strategy development, business planning, organization redesign and process optimization. These will all contain a mix of desk research, interviews, analysis and brainstorming session and excel modeling. All deliverable are presented on PowerPoint slides.

The final stream is training and entrepreneurship where the projects entail boot camp and training courses design, curricula research and development, case study design, gamification and training facilitation and delivery.

Business Development Associate

Acumen Consulting is looking to hire an ambitious and energetic Business Development Associate to support with the regional expansion of the company and driving the business forward. You will be the front of the company and will need to have the dedication to create and apply an effective strategy that will work on both building stronger relationships with our clients and expanding the business, locally and regionally. The goal is to drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients and partners.

The business Development Associate will Conduct constant desk research identifying market opportunities and customer needs. Arrange business meetings with prospective clients and donors. Promote the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives. Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers. Support in proposal research, preparation and compilation. Support in allocating and managing relationship with relevant and experienced personnel for different projects. Coordinate, plan and gather bids’ submission documents for tendering/bidding activities, Tender Questionnaires and Pre-qualifications.

The ideal candidate for this role has a strong MS Office skills and strong command of English and Arabic, excellent spoken and written communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. We are looking for ambitious self-starters with a strong willingness to learn. BA or BSC in Economics, Finance or a related discipline.

Internship Program

Acumen’s Internship Program gives students from a diverse range of academic backgrounds the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work for a dynamic consulting firm specializing in policy advisory, enterprise development, and coaching & training services.

Under the guidance of the senior and junior team, interns will be given the responsibility of carrying out certain components of client projects from A to Z.  Interns will conduct secondary and primary research, attend client meetings alongside managers, brainstorm and test solutions for complex client issues, and play a significant role in contributing to the final outcome of a client project/solution.

In addition to business analyst interns, Acumen also seeks out bright and creative Computer Science and Graphic Design (students and fresh graduates)  who are also interested in Business and Economic topics in order to carry out development and design related content for the company’s brand or the company’s clients.
